Shape-recovering stretch canvas follows the foot like a second skin, while a padded leather outsole protects the ball of the foot and creates a smooth working surface for turns. The cushioned second skin. Orbit is still beautifully minimal, but it feels more protected and reassuring than the most stripped-back foot thongs. Stretch canvas softly wraps the forefoot, cushioning sits exactly where repeated floor contact happens, and the open toes preserve much of the freedom dancers associate with working barefoot.

Orbit's defining feature is its high-performance stretch canvas construction. The fibres move with the foot and recover towards their original shape, allowing the upper to remain closely contoured without creating the rigid feeling of conventional footwear.

The open-toe design is equally important. Rather than enclosing the toes, Orbit allows them to spread naturally during balance and weight transfer, while still covering the upper forefoot. It creates an interesting middle ground between the exposed feeling of a foot thong and the greater coverage of a traditional half sole.

Beneath the ball of the foot, a leather outsole with additional internal padding creates the working surface. The leather protects against direct friction and floor burn during turns, while the cushioning reduces pressure through repeated contact without adding the bulk of a complete dance shoe.

What we like about Orbit is that the extra comfort doesn't overwhelm the barefoot idea. BLOCH has put the padding underneath the working forefoot rather than adding bulk everywhere else, so the shoe still feels light and responsive.

The silicone-backed elastic is a small detail that makes a lot of sense. A foot glove only works well when the turning pad stays underneath the foot, and the extra grip helps keep Orbit connected without needing a complicated strap system.

Our overall impression: Orbit is a lovely middle ground for dancers who want more coverage and cushioning than a minimalist foot thong, but don't want to move all the way to a conventional half sole. It feels protected where it matters and beautifully free everywhere else.
